EXHIBIT: North Carolina Arboretum

9 May

This past Friday was National Public Gardens Day and I decided to explore the North Carolina Arboretum which is only 15 minutes from my new apartment.

Little did I know that when I arrived there would be a number of quilting related exhibits to view.

One of the first gardens you come across when you enter the Arboretum is a QUILT GARDEN.
Have no idea what a quilt garden is? Don’t worry, I didn’t either.

North Carolina has a rich history of quilting, which can be viewed on their quilt trails and the immense number of guilds throughout the state.

The quilt garden was absolutely beautiful, creative and inspiring

There were also two art exhibits, the first was of quilted pictures made of paper by artist Carol Funke.

The second were these gorgeous quilts from the local area (Asheville, NC).

My favorite was the shoe quilt.

If you ever have an opportunity to visit the NC Arboretum, I would highly recommend it.

Please share your experience with any quilt gardens that you’ve visited or created!
